Graphic Designer

By using computer software, such as Adobe Photoshop, or by hand, Graphic designers communicate ideas that inspire, inform, and captivate consumers. They develop the overall layout and production design for advertisements, magazines, corporate reports,  websites, and more. Designers select colors, images, text style, and layout, ensuring visual appeal and effective communication.

Working hours can vary and while a 40 hour week is common, depending on projects, deadlines and client demands evening and weekends may be worked.

There are many types of graphic designer, however illustration (creating original artwork for children’s book or adverts, for example), brand identity designers (creating logos, color palettes, and visual styles for companies), and web designers (designing user interfaces and experiences for websites and applications) are some of the main types.

Salaries vary greatly based on experience, location, and specialization. Entry-level positions may start lower, while experienced professionals and those in high-demand areas can earn significantly more. Location also plays a role, with salaries generally higher in major cities. Additionally, freelance designers often set their own rates, which can vary depending on the project and client.
